Addiction/Afhængighed
For many years I have made art related to my experience of being close to people with addictions/personality disorders. One such friendship caused particular personal pain because I had invested my heart and my future in him.
That experience in particular led to the creation of an exhibition I have now called, My beloved addict, which has been shown multiple times in Copenhagen, Aarhus and in Vestegnen (West of Copenhagen). The purpose of the work is to lovingly and honestly build bridges and create a safe space for dialogue and understanding between people who struggle with addiction, and their family and friends who have suffered as a result of their addiction.
If any of the work on this page spoke to you, feel free to drop a comment. It means a lot to me to hear from guests who either recognise their own experiences in the work, or feel they understand the challenges of addiction better. Usually My Beloved Addict is set up as a labyrinth you can walk through, so that guests get an interactive, sensory experience of being lost inside the ‘addiction’, not knowing how to get out.
You can see a google maps tour of the labyrinth as it was experienced at Albertlund Library.
